2023 Little mermaid The soundtrack features all of the memorable songs from the original 1989 animated film, plus four new original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Alan Menken (who wrote the Oscar-winning original score). Original songwriter Howard Ashman (who passed away in 1991) is also credited on the new version.

Halle Bailey’s performance of “Part of Your World” (as Ariel) was released as the lead single from the project, and the new single Little mermaid The soundtrack will also include movie favorites like “Under the Sea,” “Kiss the Girl” (with revamped lyrics), and “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” sung by Melissa McCarthy Ursula.
In addition to Bailey and McCarthy, the star-studded cast includes Javier Bardem as King Triton, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian and Awkwafina as Scuttle.
In a recent interview with diverseMiranda teased two new songs for the live-action movie, including the song “For the First Time” that Ariel sings when she steps on the floor – yeah – for the first time. Diggs and Awkwafina also perform a rap on “The Scuttlebutt”.
But there’s also a previously unreleased track sung by Bardem, now available on a special bonus edition of the little Mermaid The soundtrack is sold on HSN. Bardem sings a new song called “The Impossible Child”, which details King Triton’s frustration with raising a daughter as peppy as Ariel.
