Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding enters its seventh non-consecutive week at number one in the UK with “Miracle” (Columbia), while Lana Del Rey enjoys charting miracle of her own.
“Miracle,” the throwback rave number, is again the most streamed song in the UK, where it became Harris’ second longest-charting single in his home country, surpassing the six weeks of “We Found Love” with Rihanna and “Promises” with Sam Smith. It’s just one week short of equaling the Scottish EDM superstar’s longest reign, the eight-week tour for One Kiss with Dua Lipa.
The seven-week run of “The Miracle” sees Goulding’s all-time rise. Other female acts to enjoy seven weeks at No. 1 include Cher with “Believe” and the Spice Girls with Wannabe.
The highest debut this week belongs to Lana Del Rey, whose album “Say Yes To Heaven” (Polydor) debuts at number nine. Originally recorded in 2012, “Say Yes” failed to land a spot on any Del Rey album. The somber tune sat on the shelf until it was leaked in recent years and made its own journey on TikTok. It is Del Rey’s sixth appearance, and their first top-notch single in the UK since “Born To Die” which also hit No. 9 in 2012.
Eurovision 2023 is in the books, but three songs from the annual song festival are still flying high on the UK chart.
After a record-setting week for Eurovision on the official UK chart, 2023 Swedish champion Lorraine watched her winning song “Tattoo” (UMG International) fall 2-4; Finland’s “Cha Cha Cha Cha” Käärijä (WM Finland) down 6-15, and Great Britain’s May Mueller “I Wrote a Song” (Capitol) down 9-18.
According to the Official Charts Company, “Tattoo” is the first Eurovision entry to spend two consecutive weeks in the top 5 of the official UK Singles Chart in 27 years. The last to do so was Australian-born UK contestant “Ooh Ahh… Just A Little Bit,” which logged nine consecutive weeks in the top five in 1996, including a one-week stint at number one.
Finally, Australian pop princess Kylie Minogue had her 52nd UK Top 40 hit with “Padam Padam” (BMG). The new electro-pop tune is at No. 26, on the chart, posted on May 26, the highest charting song by a Melbourne pop veteran in her adopted home since “Into The Blue” hit No. 12 in 2014. “Padam Padam” is the most downloaded song of the week in the United Kingdom, occupying the number one spot on the Official Singles Sales and Downloads Chart.
