Jimmy Allen The country music star who was recently sued by his former manager alleging sexual battery, assault and false imprisonment, has released a statement apologizing to his wife. Allen did not address the allegations of the principal, who chose to remain anonymous and file under Jane Doe’s name, instead describing his relationship with the principal as an “affair”.
“I want to publicly apologize to my wife, Alexis, for insulting my relationship,” he wrote in a statement posted to Instagram. “I am embarrassed that my choices have brought shame on her. … This work takes so much out of you. It is full of temptations that can cripple you and destroy everything you have built. I am ashamed that I was not strong enough to bear them. I will no longer be a victim of my weaknesses.”
He also wrote that he was working on “becoming a better person who my kids can be proud of.”
A week ago, Doe filed the lawsuit in Tennessee District Court. The plaintiff is described as a day manager who worked with Allen from May 2020 to October 2022. The management company she worked for, Wide Open Music, is also a defendant.
She alleged that Allen sexually assaulted her after he appeared on American Idol in March 2021; She claims that she was unable to give consent because she was incapacitated at the time. “While she drank only two glasses of white wine, Plaintiff did not remember anything after dinner that evening — she passed out and woke up naked in her hotel room several hours later, with Jimmy Allen insisting that she take Plan B as soon as possible,” the lawsuit claims. “Confused and disoriented, the plaintiff was bleeding from her vagina. The plaintiff felt ashamed and humiliated. She realized that she had lost her virginity through a lack of choice on her part and felt that he had betrayed her faith.”
The plaintiff alleged that Allen assaulted her several times while working for him. “When Plaintiff drove Allen to and from events, he sexually abused her at red lights, in green rooms, on airplanes, and in other places where she was required to support him at events,” the suit says. “He raped her in private while choking her. He videotaped multiple sexual encounters in order to blackmail her into staying silent.”
Allen denied her allegations and responded to them in a statement Rolling Stone, again describing his relationship with Doe as consensual. He said, “I acknowledge that we had a sexual relationship – which lasted nearly two years.” “During that time she never accused me of anything wrong, and spoke of our relationship and friendship as something she wanted to carry on indefinitely. Only after things were over between us did she hire a lawyer to reach out and ask for money, which leads me to question her motives. The simple fact is that her accusations Not only is it false, but it is also deeply damaging. She has worked incredibly hard to build my career, and I intend to vigorously defend her claims and take all other legal action necessary to protect my reputation.”
Fallout has come quickly for Allen since word of the lawsuit broke. His label suspended him and his upcoming appearance was canceled by the CMAFest organizers. He was scheduled to give a commencement address at Delaware State University last week, but was replaced the day before by Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester.
Allen married his wife, Alexis, in 2020. They divorced last month. The couple have two children and are expecting a third.
