I suspect a lot of people, entrepreneurs or not, got started on YouTube like I did: with a channel
She remained relatively inactive. Now my company has recently crossed 1 million subscribers since I started – and I’m still not sure what I was doing – in 2016. I’d be happy to double that and get to 2 million
subscribers in the next two years. It’s doable: more than 2.5 billion users log into the platform each
Month.
Do I have a big secret? No, you learned along the way, and the great thing about YouTube is if you do
Follow a few simple steps, and pretty soon you’ll be doing a lot of the work for you. Here are some simple, tangible things to start building and growing your brand with this influencer medium.

1. Use your expertise to carve your niche — and stick to it
This may seem obvious, but it is important as you begin to build your brand. As an entrepreneur, your specialization may be obvious, but to others – as with some service advisors, for example – you may be tempted to stray from the path of experience or unsure of the specific competency you have where you can rise above others.
Pay attention to what people are drawn to in one-on-one conversations; In my case, I was in academia and conversations with a marketing colleague convinced me that I had a niche that would showcase my brand.
2. Work with people with different skill sets
Just as important as knowing your expertise is knowing what isn’t in your wheelhouse and finding someone who can help you. Many entrepreneurs are visionaries. Some may also be entrepreneurs, but that wasn’t me, and I realized that – so I partnered with a marketing fellow, who also had experience as a business owner.
3. Speak the language of your audience
This is a rule of thumb for public speaking, but it may not be something you do very often. I was used to getting in front of the public every day, but those were intellectual discussions – not conversations between individuals.
To my YouTube listeners, I sounded a bit pedantic and worse, they didn’t know what I was talking about! This does not mean that your listeners are not educated or intelligent, but that people come from different backgrounds so you need to reduce your arguments to simple terms that a wide audience can understand. This is especially important for those from specialized fields that are full of industry-specific language, such as engineering and law, for example. The good news is that if you accidentally fall back into your “old” way of speaking, your audience will give you feedback. Don’t be defensive or take offense at it – take it, learn and do better (and practice).

4. Learn how YouTube works
The beauty of YouTube is that if you keep producing content, the platform figures out where you are and finds your audience for you.
The more you use it, the better fit it will be for you to get you in front of an audience based on their user profile, which is why it’s so important to get where you are and stay there. anticipate the learning process; I read a lot of articles about the YouTube algorithm in the early weeks.
5. Don’t reinvent what works
This is just an iteration of “don’t reinvent the wheel,” but when growing your brand on YouTube, it’s pivotal — and easy.
Quite simply, ask your competitors (I like to call them colleagues) to help you. Watch what they do and review analytics to determine what works for them, which topics users respond to and any patterns. Look at the comments to generate different ideas and content. Then develop your own unique content (which is very important, of course) for your videos, but with keywords, titles, thumbnails and things like that to power the algorithm. In a sense, you’re letting these fellows do the beta testing for you.
6. Go to monetization
After you have only 1000 YouTube subscribers, you can sign up for their Google Ads Partnership Program and can start earning by running Google Ads. YouTube also recently added channel memberships that your followers can join and support you with, with tiers starting at $4.99 per month and up. Consider writing a book and promoting it for purchase on YouTube and your blog, if you have one. Then go into the trade.
7. Self-union

8. Understanding social relationships
Semisocial relationships are formed when a viewer or user connects with an influencer or public figure. In the case of brands and YouTube, they can build more loyal brand followers through intimacy by creating special, premium “internal clubs” that give users additional reach. You can host smaller, more exclusive live discussions on a regular basis. You may have levels within those forms; The more access they want, the more they pay.
There’s never been a better time to define your own path and use YouTube to build your brand.
